As part of our data strategy were investing into a new data platform with AWS. This platform will enable us to combine data from multiple sources and analyse it both in batch and in near real time, unlocking the value behind our data.

The role of the Data Engineer is focused on the underlying data itself, working to make data accessible for analytics by changing its shape and structure and getting to where it can be activated in decisioning. You will do this by creating data pipelines and ETL process following the best practice defined in our SDLC and architectural principles. This role is more focused on the data side of the platform (instead of devops side of the platform development) and ensures that the data within the platform evolves to support the business use cases.

We are looking for you to operate in a hybrid way of working with at least two days in the office each week and the rest remotely, our office is located in Warsaw Spire. However, all work must be performed within Poland, and remote work from abroad is not available.

We encourage employees to participate in company events (team meetings, conferences, integration activities, etc) at least once per quarter/half year.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing and implementing Data Pipelines by using ETL, adding new features and data sets to the platform
  • Responsible for managing, coordinating and automating data pipeline and product deployments
  • Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines
  • Responsible for monitoring costs and tuning the performance of pipelines appropriately
  • Responsible for adherence to and extend coding / documentation standards and best practices related to data engineering
  • Responsible for leading and contributing to POCs on new technologies
  • Recommend design and process improvements
  • Providing guidance to junior staff
  • Participating in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily scrum, retro)

  • 1+ year of experience in building and developing data pipelines on cloud data platforms
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in data engineering / software engineering
  • Proficient in at least one programming language – Python, R etc
  • Good working knowledge of SQL & ETL technologies and understanding of database design
  • CI/CD & general dev-ops experience
  • Experience in Big Data Technologies like Airflow/Glue, Spark, Kafka
  • Experience in Source control tools like Gitlab / Github
  • Very good command of Polish & English
